BISI BELE BATH

Ingredients :

Rice : 1 cup (soaked)
Toor dal :  half cup (boiled and mashed )
Tamarind Pulp : half tbsp
Peanuts : 4 tbsp
Dessicated coconut (fresh ) : 4 tbsp
Mix Vegetables : 1 cup (includes carrot , potatoes , green peas , capsicum , beans , cauliflower )(cut into 1 " cubes)
Tomatoes : 2 (finely chopped )
Bisibelebath Powder : 3 tbsp
Green Chilly as per taste
Salt to taste
Oil : 2 tbsp

Tempering
 Oil : 1 tbsp
Mustard Seeds : 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds : half tsp
Curry Leaves : 10 - 12
Whole Red Chillies : 2

Method :

1. Heat a thick bottom pan . Add two cups of water .When the water boils , add peanuts , rice , salt and oil .

2. When the rice are half done , add toor daal and all vegetables other than capsicum and tomatoes.

3. After 5 minutes , add tamarind pulp dissolved in half cup of water .

4. After 2 mins , add bisibelebath powder dissolved in half cup of water .

5. Now keep stirring a little in between as bisibelebath powder is sticky by nature .Dont stir rigoursly otherwise rice will break , we want whole rice at the end .
6. After 3-4 mins , add capsicum and grated coconut and tomatoes and allow to cook for further 5 - 8 mins on low flame .

7.This is little liquidy in texture like khichdi , its not like pulao , when there is little water remaining you can remove from flame .
8. For tempering , heat oil , add mustard seeds , when it splutters , add cumin ,turn off the burner and add curry leaves and whole red chillies .Pour this on rice and serve hot .

Note : Vegetables that you dont like can be skipped . I have skipped cauliflower and capsicum .
